Now in its 8th year, the Play for Jake / Bolt for the Heart Family 5K Walk and Run continues its mission of building a safer, heart-ready community in La Porte. Thanks to years of community support, life-saving AEDs have been placed in city and county police vehicles throughout the area - but placement is just the beginning. Pads expire, batteries lose charge, and equipment must be monitored daily to remain rescue-ready.

This year's event focuses on funding the ongoing maintenance of those AEDs so first responders are always prepared when seconds matter most. Every registration, donation, and sponsorship goes directly toward AED replacement pads and batteries, daily monitoring systems, and continued cardiac emergency preparedness.
