In 1857, James Oliver invented the chilled plow, changing agriculture forever. His son J.D. took the company global, and the Oliver plow went on to become the best-selling plow in the world. History Hour: Plowing Through the Competition brings this remarkable story to life at the Barker Mansion on June 14.
Presenters Kristie Erickson, Deputy Executive Director of The History Museum, and Amber Gabel, Curator of Copshaholm, will cover the history of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works, the Oliver family legacy, and their South Bend estate known as Copshaholm. The program runs from 12:00 to 12:45pm.
