The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra kicks off its subscription season in spectacular fashion with Arabian Nights at the La Porte Civic Auditorium. The centerpiece of the evening is Rimsky-Korsakov's dazzling symphonic suite Scheherazade, one of classical music's most vivid and celebrated works, inspired by the legendary tales of One Thousand and One Nights.
South Bend native and oboist Jennet Ingle takes the stage as featured soloist for two oboe concerti -- Morricone's beloved Gabriel's Oboe and the mysterious Madam Laschanzky oboe concerto. The program opens with Mozart's overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio, setting the stage for an evening of rich, exotic musical storytelling. All under the baton of Music Director Dr. Carolyn Watson.
